I've never been to Kara's (I live in LA), but I agree with you that Sprinkles frosting is too sweet and the cakes tend to be dry. There are far better cupcakes than Sprinkles.

Hi Claudette: Good to know the Chocolate Marshmallow is indeed moist. Maybe mine was sitting on the shelf a tad too long when I got it.

And Lisa M: I'm not as thin as I used to be. Ah, my kingdom for the waistline I had in college. Sigh. But I believe in what the late-great Julia Child used to say: "Everything _ but in moderation.'' Don't deprive yourself, but choose wisely, and remember you don't have to eat the entire serving at once or at all.

Oh NO fair to dangle this entire plate of cupcakes before my very eyes!! And, I still don't get how you can eat all this stuff and stay so thin LOL. I need to get there. If I ever do make it there, I aim to get at least a plateful too:-)

Carolyn, thanks for the report. I was at Sprinkles yesterday at 10:30am and there was no line, and the Chocolate Marshmallow cupcake was not at all dry - in fact, it was falling-apart moist, which made it impossible to eat without a fork. It was good, but I like Kara's cupcakes a lot more, and for the same reasons you describe. Plus, those little colored dots on top of the Sprinkles cupcakes are cute, but tasteless and hard as nails.
