Restaurant Specials and Food From the Heart

If you’re a night owl, gather your nocturnal friends for a dining deal at Zare at Fly Trap restaurant in San Francisco.

Its new “Ten After Ten” promotion lets parties of 10 or more who make a dinner reservation for 10 p.m. or later get 50 percent off the cost of food. It’s good Monday through Saturday. Just mention what special occasion you’re celebrating — birthday, anniversary, bachelorette party or something else — when you book.

If you prefer eating earlier, Chez Papa Resto in San Francisco has introduced a monthly changing themed four-course prix fixe dinner menu (with amuse bouche) nightly for $50. Wine pairing is available for an additional $35.

February is all about celebrating citrus. Enjoy Maine lobster salad with Meyer lemon and black truffle emulsion; shaved celery, fennel tuile and ice wine gastrique; compressed baby beets with pomelo, Oro Blanco, ricotta salata, ras al hanout and toasted pine nuts; Liberty Farms duck confit with celery root, clementines and Grand Marnier; and orange blossom panna cotta with buddha hand confit and Cara Cara oranges.

Experience a cornucopia of tastes, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 13, at the sixth annual “Food From the Heart” event at the Ferry Building Marketplace in San Francisco. The event is a benefit for Slow Food San Francisco.

Food vendors from the marketplace will offer small bites for noshing ($2 to $4 per taste), and members of the Napa Valley Vintners will be pouring special wines.

And for a real fun time, let Pastry Chef Carlos Sanchez of Parcel 104 in Santa Clara tantalize your palate when he tackles the savory side of cooking. Sanchez is hosting his once-a-year, six-course savory sensation dinner, 6 p.m. March 7.

If you’re already a fan of Sanchez’s dainty, irresistible sweets, and if you’ve ever experienced his imaginative sweet-savory desserts at the restaurant’s annual cheese dinner or mushroom and pinot celebration, you know you’re in for a treat. Price is $65 per person.
