New Pinkberry, Free Pasta and More
Another Pinkberry Opens:
The tart fro-yo craze continues as the South Bay welcomes another Pinkberry, this one at 2362 El Camino Real in Santa Clara.
The grand opening, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 22, will feature free samples and celebrity guest DJ Joe Manganiello from HBO’s “True Blood,” spinning tunes.
Wine Dinner at Red Crane:
The four-course dinner includes such delightful pairings as crispy snow crab cake with papaya salsa matched with the 2006 “Teacher’s Pet” Estate Chardonnay; and pan-roasted petit filet mignon with roasted gold beets accompanied by the 2007 “Honor Roll” Estate Merlot.
Price is $80 per person. For reservations, call (408) 725-1990.
Prime Time for Prime Rib:
It definitely will be at Sent Sovi in Saratoga, Oct. 28, when Chef-Owner Josiah Slone hosts the “Big Scary Prime Rib” dinner.
Nothing to fear; the scary part refers to those big bottles of wine (magnums and larger) that we have stashed at home, wondering when we’ll ever have the occasion to uncork them.
Slone wants to give you the nudge to do that on this evening, when he invites you to bring in your own magnum or larger bottle of wine to enjoy a feast of prime rib, served in variations, such as Yukon Gold gnocchi with prime rib “rib” ragout; and poached prime rib “cap” with roasted beets. The dinner will be set at communal tables, so you can trade wine tastes with fellow diners, if you like.
Price is $85 per person, which includes the meal plus corkage for as many big, scary bottles as you want to bring.
Free Pasta on World Pasta Day
Yes, who knew there was such a thing? But you’ll be glad there is when you drop into any Buca di Beppo, including the ones in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Campell and San Jose, on Oct. 25 for free pasta.
Any guest that day who orders a small or large pasta or entree will receive a free serving of spaghetti with their choice of meat or marinara sauce. Talk about carb heaven!
Additionally, those guests also will receive a complimentary 16-ounce package of Rummo-brand Italian pasta to take home for more carb goodness.
What’s more, Buca di Beppo will be donating 2,500 pounds of pasta that day to Bay Area food banks.
