New Bar Hours & Noshes at St. Helena’s Farmstead Restaurant

If you’re famished after all that wine-tasting in the Napa Valley, pull up a stool at Farmstead Restaurant at Long Meadow Ranch in St. Helena, which has added extended bar hours on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as some new tasty noshes.

Sunday through Thursday, the bar is open until 10 p.m. But on Friday and Saturday nights, you can chill out there until 12 a.m.

Nibble the night away with goodies such as cheddar biscuits with cured ham and apple butter ($12); spaghetti with slow-cooked lamb ragu, ricotta and mint ($14); meatballs with caramelized mire poix and tomato marmalade ($12); and “potted” pig with homemade mustard and toast ($14).

Fun Lunar New Year Celebrations

If you were born in the Year of the Rabbit or gave birth under that sign  (1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1975, 1987, 1999 and 2011), the Plumed Horse of Saratoga will honor you and your dinner guests with free champagne and dessert for the table.

Offer is available Jan. 31 through Feb. 4. Mention “Chinese New Year Week Special” when making a reservation.

Up on the Peninsula, Ming’s Chinese Cuisine & Bar in Palo Alto will usher in Chinese New Year with lion dance performances, noon and 1:15 p.m. Feb. 6.

The Young Lion Dancers — a group of talented youths, ages 5 to 14 years old — will perform the traditional dance, complete with colorful, animated lion’s head costume. Because of the popularity of the performances, reservations are recommended for lunch that day.

These photos are stunning! And one more reason to head up to St. Helena more often–I was just there last weekend, and with this beautiful weather we’ve been having, it was a little piece of heaven. Thanks for the tips!
