Meet Bradley Ogden and Rick Bayless, Plus Loads More

On June 9, shoppers at the Marin Farmers Market will get a chance to meet Chef Bradley Ogden, co-founder of the Lark Creek Restaurant Group, and Chef Aaron Wright of the Tavern at Lark Creek in Larkspur.
The two chefs will be at the Star Route Farms booth at the center of the farmers market at 9:30 a.m. to answer questions about the best produce.
That evening, join the two chefs at the Tavern at Lark Creek, when Ogden hosts a dinner to showcase dishes from his new cookbook, “Holiday Dinners with Bradley Ogden” (Running Press), which will be published in September.
The $35 per person prix fixe will include grilled apricot and goat cheese salad; flank steak with sweet oven-dried tomatoes and potato salad; and mixed berry cobbler. For reservations, call (415) 924-7766.
Chef Rick Bayless, Chicago restaurateur known for his prowess with Mexican cuisine and for winning the first season of “Top Chef Masters,” will headline cooking demos each day, 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.. He’ll be whipping up Mexican-inspired dishes, including Mexican-style shrimp cocktail and “Tropical Beach Ceviche.”
Of course there’s more than food to enjoy. Visitors will get a chance to learn new gardening techniques, attend wine seminars, and meet artisans and exhibitors.
Tickets are $16 for general admission; $12 for seniors; and free for children age 12 and under.
Chef Mark Dommen of One Market in San Francisco will team with Chef Tony Maws of Craigie on Main in Cambridge, Mass. at 7 p.m. June 9 for a multi-course, whole pig dinner benefiting the James Beard Foundation. Last month, Maws received the James Beard “2011 Best Chef Northeast” award.

For an even more piggy time, don’t miss Cochon 555 when it rolls into San Francisco at 5 p.m. June 5.
Five chefs, five pigs and five winemakers will gather to promote heritage breeds while offering up some pig-a-licious morsels.
The chefs will be competing to create the best pork dishes from snout to tail. The winner will go on to compete at Aspen Food & Wine for the grand title. Those vying for pork bragging rights are: Ravi Kapur of Prospect, Brandon Jew and Salvatore Cracco of Bar Agricole; Matthew Accarrino of SPQR; David Bazirgan of Fifth Floor Restaurant; and David Varley of Michael Mina (past winner of Cochon 555 DC and Grand Cochon 555 2010).
The event will be held at the Julia Morgan Ballroom at the Merchants Exchange Building, 465 California St.
General admission tickets are $125 per person. VIP tickets, $200 each, gets you access to a private wine tasting from seven wineries.
Participating San Francisco restaurants will be offering up special meal deals from now through June 15 for “Dine About Town San Francisco.”
Enjoy a two-course lunch for $17.95 or a three-course dinner for $34.95.
Celebrate “National Get Outdoors Day,” 11 a.m. to 4 pm. June 11 at the Quarry Lakes Recreational Area, 2100 Isherwood Way in Fremont.
The free, family-oriented event, hosted by the East Bay Regional Parks District, will feature healthy food vendors, arts & crafts, and giveaways.
