Guests of Carneros Inn Get Gift of Organic Produce

Guests who depart the Carneros Inn in Napa on Sundays can now receive a free brimming bag of fresh-picked fruit and veggies from the resort’s 1/2-acre biodynamic, organic garden to take home.

Those goodies might include heirloom tomatoes, kale, Swiss chard, watermelon, cucumber, carrots, peas, strawberries and raspberries, as well as a bevy of herbs and flowers. The good-for-you goody bag is available for the asking at check-out and even comes with a recipe, too.

Peter Stonebraker, the property’s culinary gardener, grows an abundance of produce for the resort’s private dining restaurant, Hilltop Dining Room, as well as for its FARM restaurant and  Boon Fly Cafe. And he’s more than happy to share the wealth.

Dessert First? You Bet!

Life is short, so why not go for the sweet stuff first?

Project Open Hand invites you to do just that at its 11th annual Dessert First extravaganza at the InterContinental San Francisco, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 14.

To balance out your palate, there also will be cheeses, hors d’oeuvres, wines, ports and coffee. Additionally, both live and silent auctions also will be held.

General admission tickets are $75 each. VIP tickets, which include entry to a 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. reception, are $125 each.

All proceeds will benefit Project Open Hand, a nutrition-services agency that serves those with HIV/AIDS, home-bound critically ill, and seniors.

  • How nice to get a bag of wonderful produce, sounds like a great place to stay!

  • OMG I wish we lived closer to Santa Cruz! My hubby LOVES calamari but I’m too scared of the deep fryer to make them at home!

  • There nothing like cooking with all the fresh herbs and organic ingredients from the country.

I love fresh heirlooms with EVOO then sprinkled with some sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper and a squeeze of lemon juice. Just heavenly!

  • What a great gift for the guest at Carneros Inn. Hmmm….if I have a staycation there in future, I must bring my ice-box to store these goodies well ;p

  • Your update what’s going on posts always have me dreaming and drooling. Each of these sound fabulous! Dessert first? Why yes! Ditto calamari! But I love the idea of guests leaving with a bag of fresh heirloom vegetables which I find truly thoughtful & inspiring.

  • Oh the Carneros Inn looks awesome. If we still lived in Northern California it would definitely be something we would want to check out!, We have always liked going to Napa because it is always so beautiful!

  • Love visiting Napa! Carneros Inn is one of our favorite Napa Valley resorts. Can’t go wrong with a wine getaway! 😉
