Just like last year, yours truly once again will be one of the judges when six finalists will vie for a grand prize of $10,000 and a year’s supply of fresh chicken.
Last year’s champ, Alexandria Boswell of La Jolla, won top honors for her inspired dish of “Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts.”
Giveaway: Join me for this fun cook-off, where you’ll get to see all the action and taste all of the dishes. Here’s all you have to do:
The first five people to email email@example.com and mention my blog will win a pair of tickets to the competition. Ticket winners must provide their own transportation/accommodations for the event on Sept. 30, which should be noted is a Friday.
Winner of Last Week’s Contest: In the most recent Food Gal contest, I asked you to tell me your most unusual or memorable nosh at a bar. The best answer will win win two bottles each of the 2009 Diva Pinot Noir Sonoma County and the 2010 Diva Chardonnay Sonoma County. The former is a classic New World-style with floral aromas and round, lush fruit. The latter is barrel-fermented with soft buttery notes and the flavor of ripe peach. The wines come courtesy of Enoteca La Storia in Los Gatos.
Amy Tong, who wrote, “There’s an Asian bar called Gossip in Hacienda Height, CA I used to go at least once a week (when I was still single though) to hang out with a group of friends. They served the most amazing Hong Kong (my home country) style street food. For example, curry fish balls, octopus legs in chili oil, mini egg waffles, BBQ beef tongue on skewers, and star anise marinated pig ears, just to name a few. Yeah, some might sound weird but they are ‘comfort food’ for me whenever I’m home sick! Anyway, I don’t hang out at the bars anymore but I still have a love for red wine!”
