New See’s Chocolate Chips

Imagine this: See’s Candies and chocolate chip cookies — all in one.

If that doesn’t get your lips smacking, I don’t know what will.

Now, you can enjoy the truly blissful taste of the two together with See’s Candies new semi-sweet chocolate chips. There’s even a cookie recipe included on the back of the package to make baking a batch super easy.

The chips are larger than your usual ones — about 1/2-inch in diameter. What that means is when the cookies come out of the oven, you get so much more ooey-gooey chocolate in every bite.

The recipe makes perfect chocolate chip cookies, too — crispy on the edges, chewy in the center and with a load of chocolate chips throughout.

That’s even more true because I used the entire 1-pound bag of chips for the recipe. It calls for 2 cups of the chips. But really, once you measure that out, you don’t have very many chips left in the bag, so you might as well use them all.

See’s gets its chocolate from the fabulous Guittard Chocolate Company of Burlingame to make its wonderful, homespun candies. Guittard is also the source of the chocolate for these chips.

A bag is $5.55 at See’s stores or on its Web site.

With high-season for cookie baking just around the corner, there’s no better time to try a bag.

See’s Original Chocolate Chip Cookies

(Makes about 4 dozen cookies)

1 cup butter, softened at room temperature

1 cup light brown sugar

1 cup granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup chopped walnuts

2 cups See’s Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cream together butter and brown sugar. Gradually add granulated sugar, beating till smooth, then beat into the mixture the eggs and the vanilla.

Mix together the flour, salt and baking soda, then blend into the egg and sugar mixture, mixing well. Stir in semi sweet chocolate chips and the walnuts, making sure the chocolate and nuts mix through.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
