Americano Restaurant in San Francisco Invites Kids to Make Dessert

Executive Chef Kory Stewart of Americano Restaurant at the Hotel Vitale in San Francisco will host a fun kids’ dessert baking class, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 17.

Kids, ages 4-12, will learn to make and decorate holiday cookies, as well as a gingerbread house.

Do You Think You Have What It Takes To Become America’s Next “Masterchef”?

Judges Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich are back for a third season of the hit show, “Masterchef,” in which amateur chefs compete for the top culinary title and a prize of $250,000.

Auditions are being held nationwide for the next round of contestants. Bay Area folks will get a chance to strut their stuff when auditions take place in San Francisco, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 10 at Le Cordon Bleu, 350 Rhode Island St.

Holiday Tea Time at the Top of the Mark in San Francisco

It’s time for tea with a view at the Top of the Mark at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins in San Francisco.

The 19th floor of the landmark hotel is the spot for holiday tea. Choose from two different ones, too.

First up, the “Holiday Afternoon Tea,” available 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays until Dec. 15, then resuming again Dec. 26-30. Sip your choice of tea while nibbling from a three-tiered selection of sandwiches, scones with Devonshire cream and French pastries. Price is $36 per person.

Second, enjoy the “Magical Holiday Tea,” 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9-10, 16-17, and 19-23. This family-friendly tea experience features a magician and face painter. A tea buffet service will offer traditional fare, as well as kid-favorites such as pigs in a blanket and PB&J sandwiches. All children get to take home a complimentary gift, too.

Price is $48 per person. Each guest who brings in a new toy to donate to the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots Drive will receive a $2 discount off the price of the holiday tea.

Dinner & A Show From Santana Row

Enjoy a three-course $30 per person dinner with a guest on a Monday night through Dec. 19 at a participating restaurant at Santana Row in San Jose — and get two tickets to “A Christmas Carol.”

The San Jose Repertory Theatre production is playing through Dec. 24.
