Meet Chris Cosentino at Williams-Sonoma

The offal-good chef, Chris Cosentino of San Francisco’s Incanto, will sign copies of his new cookbook, Beginnings: My Way to Start a Meal (Weldon Owen) at Williams-Sonoma at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, 2 p.m. May 15.

In a departure from his trademark head-to-tail cooking that makes use of organ meats and every other odd bit, his cookbook spotlights 60 recipes for Italian first-courses through the seasons.

Books must be purchased at Williams-Sonoma in order to be signed.

La Boulange Opens in Downtown Palo Alto

The Bay Area’s La Boulange is opening its 19th locale — this newest one in downtown Palo Alto at 151 University Ave. Doors will open May 16.

Founded by Pascal Rigo, La Boulange features signature French pastries, breads, salads, sandwiches and gourmet coffees. Look for seasonal treats, too, including strawberry rhubarb macarons ($1.50 each) and ratatouille tartine ($9.25).

Enjoy Classes at the NapaStyle Store

Besides offering a wealth of cookware and gourmet condiments for sale, Chef Michael Chiarello’s NapaStyle store in Yountville now hosts a variety ofร‚ย  culinary classes at $25 per person.

May 18, farmers market expert Karen Schuppert will show you how to prepare cauliflower “couscous” with mint pesto, and baby bok choy with goji berries, as well as teach you all about sprouted seeds and gluten-free grains.

May 25, Chef Mark Dommen of One Market in San Francisco will prepare Chardonnay grapeseed oil poached Alaskan halibut, and lightly cured Kampachi with cold-pressed grapeseed oil.

  • These events sound like fun! I love the idea of head to tail cooking so I’d definitely be at Chris’s event if I were in the area.

  • 19th location for boulange? Insane.

  • These events sounds like a lot of fun, exploring & enjoying chefs & ingredinets & foods! ๐Ÿ™‚ Good for you!

  • Oh I agree this sounds like so much fun! Now I really wish we were closer so we could attend this.

  • How fun! I wish I lived closer too! I guess for now I’ll just have to watch The Food Network!

  • I really hoped something cuter will open on that beautiful location where La Boulange will, a fancy cafe, or restaurant ๐Ÿ™ Tried La Boulange in Menlo Park and was disappointed. … I live 2 blocks from University Ave, and walk there daily… Downtown Palo Alto needs some nicer, more elegant yet every day kind places that won’t serve water/drinks/food in awful ugly plastic things, like most of them do now…
