Yours truly, the Food Gal, will be making a return visit to the Cellar at Macy’s Union Square in San Francisco, 2 p.m. May 19, when I play host to a fun afternoon of Brazilian eats.
Gourmet entrepreneur Monika Batista will be cooking a specialty dish from her Brazilian heritage, as well as giving out samples of her irresistible Mani Snacks, gluten-free yuca root flour rolls that are pure cheesy goodness. They’re made locally in Los Gatos, too.
Come hear how this former landscape architect turned a love for a childhood treat into a thriving business. Admission is free.
For more foodie fun, join Chef James Syhabout, the only chef to boast a Michelin star in Oakland, at a 2 p.m. demo May 5 at Macy’s. Syhabout, who owns Commis and Hawker Fare, will give you a taste of his unique take on Thai food.
A $50 donation is requested for this event, which benefits the San Francisco chapter of the national Association of Asian American Professionals. RSVP for this event here.
For a sweet time, come to Macy’s at 2 p.m. May 12 when Executive Pastry Chef Tim Nugent of Scala’s Bistro in San Francisco will be dishing up dessert, including his signature berry pavlova with vanilla yogurt. This event is free.
