Sent Sovi’s Savory Chocolate Dinner

Who says chocolate is only for dessert?

Not at Sent Sovi in Saratoga, where Chef-Proprietor Josiah Slone will be hosting his third annual “Savory Chocolate Dinner” at 7 p.m. Feb. 28.

The multi-course dinner will include such indulgences as savory white chocolate and sweet potato soup; cocoa-rubbed ahi tuna with almonds; and braised lamb with chocolate, cardamom and dried fruits.

The wine-paired dinner is $110 per person. Reservations and pre-payment are required.

Winner of the Previous Food Gal Contest

In last week’s Food Gal contest, I asked you to tell me why you most wanted to try the vegan and gluten-free products by Santa Clara-based Dia Delights.

Best answer wins a $40 gift certificate from Dia Delights. For those who live in the Bay Area and can pick up their treats from Dia Delights directly, the certificate is good for any product. For those who live outside the region, necessitating the need to ship the products, the gift certificate is good only for cookies and non-frosted items since they are less perishable.

Congrats to:

Michelle, who wrote, “While I have always been a skeptic about vegan food, my husband’s grandmother recently found out that she must adhere to a gluten-free diet. She’s well into her 80s and has ALWAYS been an avid baker and cook (and has a killer sweet tooth to boot), and the gluten-free thing really threw her for a loop. She lives in rural Oklahoma, where these is not a large selection of gluten-free treats, so we try to provide those as often as she can. This would be an amazing treat for her! I would use the gift certificate to choose some treats for her and send them in time for Valentine’s Day!”
