Enjoy a taste of spice and all things nice when yours truly is joined by Chef-Owner Pradeep Kumar of Vedas restaurant for a cooking demo, 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Macy’s Valley Fair in Santa Clara.

With outposts in Milpitas, San Mateo and Pleasanton, Vedas restaurants offer up a bold taste of the various regions of India. They are known for their proprietary spice blends, made in traditional stone grinders to preserve their robust flavors.

Born in Delhi, Kumar worked in New York City restaurants, Silicon Valley tech cafes, and with Food Network celebrity Robert Irvine of “Dinner: Impossible.”

A member of Macy’s Culinary Council, Tsai is the Yale-educated, James Beard Award-winning chef-owner of acclaimed Blue Ginger and Blue Dragon restaurants in Massachusetts, and host of “Simply Ming” on public television.

If you haven’t yet discovered its many charms — eclectic small plates and a killer craft cocktail program — or managed to snag a table, as it’s that popular now, you enjoy a taste of what it offers when its Chef-Owner Jeffrey Stout joins me at 2 p.m. April 18 for a cooking demo at Macy’s Valley Fair.

You may remember Stout as the original chef at Alexander’s Steakhouse in Cupertino, where he earned that restaurant a Michelin star.
