    Another View of Rising Food Costs

    Hikes in the price of milk, eggs, bread, veggies, and other food staples may have you hopping mad. But there may be a bright side to this situation if it makes us view our food differently.

    That’s the intriguing premise I write about in today’s “A Girl’s Gotta Eat” column in the Metro, in which I explore what it would be like if a potato cost $100.

      True, and a very valuable thought for anyone who cooks. Sometimes I use that mindset to help me use more vegetables than meat. I pretend that the fresh asparagus was $9 a pound and make it the star. If I think of presenting a main course of mashed potatoes with a side of pork chops, I treat the ingredients with different respect.
