Kara’s Cupcakes Opens In Napa

If you think Napa is all about wine, wine, and more wine, well, it still is. But now, you can get your fix of cupcakes there, too.
Kara’s Cupcakes has opened in the Oxbow Public Market in downtown Napa.
Now, if you need a pick-me-up after wine-tasting, head over to Kara’s for a Fleur de Sel (chocolate cupcake with caramel filling, and ganache frosting sprinkled with sea salt) or Kara’s Karrot (carrot cupcake with tangy, thick cream cheese frosting).
Most of the ingredients that go into the $3.25 cupcakes are sourced locally. They are baked fresh daily. At the end of the day, any unsold cupcakes are donated to charity. Last year, Kara’s provided more than 62,000 cupcakes to the needy, and donated another 10,000 to other causes, including the Make A Wish Foundation.
This is the fifth Kara’s in Northern California. Two others are in San Francisco, another is in San Jose at Santana Row, and another in Palo Alto’s Town & Country Village.

I absolutely love it when they sprinkle salt over a sweet dessert. I’ve heard of fleur de sel cookies too! but wow…they are pretty expensive!

I’ve got to get up to the Oxbow Market, Never been, and your post has provided one more reason to make the trek.

When will one open on the East Bay, more specifically Rockridge because, um, I love Kara’s but I’m getting lazy knowing that they’re every where. Now I want them closer to me!

I actually prefer Kara’s over Sprinkles and most others. Glad we have several in our area or I’d have to make a trip to Napa just to have one.

I’m always in need of a pick-me-up after a day of wine tasting in Napa. A couple of cupcakes and a nap would be a great way to end the day.

I am a fan of all things cupcake. Although I do enjoy that Sprinkles has frosting shots. When all you need is a little frosting! I wish Kara’s had these because I love their lemon frosting!

I wish they had places like this in Napa when I was growing up there in the 80′s! Getting a dry cake frosted in bright pink sugar and shortening, from Buttercream Bakery was a treat back then.

First Sprinkles, now Kara’s . . . I’ve got a lot of cupcake eating waiting when we visit California again!

Kara’s is just off the “Valencia Park” in Santana Row, where they have started having Summer Concerts from 7:15ish to 8:45ish on Thursday nights. Last night’s was an acoustic guitar with Ottmair Leibert/Carlos Santana tunes by his own arrangement. Smallish crowd but the cupcakes drew a steady line.
