You’ll learn the secret to making iconic meaty dishes like that when Chef de Cuisine Anthony Jimenez of The Table joins me for a cooking demo at Macy’s Valley Fair at 2 p.m. May 17.

The Table is a popular farm-to-table establishment in San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood that was opened by long-time local chef, Jim Stump, of the Los Gatos Brewing Company.

Are you a fan of the fabled Spanish Pimiento de Padron peppers?

The Russian Roulette of peppers that are sweet for the most part, but now and then one turns prickly hot and you can’t tell until you bite into it?

Then, you have farmer David Winsberg to thank for the fact that they now star on so many Bay Area menus and can be purchased easily at local farmers markets.

Winsberg’s Happy Quail Farms in East Palo Alto was believed to be the first commercial grower of this special pepper in this country.

If you missed your chance to check out last month’s demo at Macy’s Valley Fair in Santa Clara, now’s your chance to catch another.

I’m thrilled to be hosting a 6 p.m. cooking demo on July 11 with  none other than Charlie Ayers, the first ever Google executive chef who now owns his own restaurant, Calafia Cafe in Palo Alto’s Town & Country Village.

The eco-conscious  establishment offers plenty of healthful fare, including many vegetarian options.
