Sweet Pick-Me-Up
If you’re shopping till you’re dropping at San Francisco’s Union Square area, revive yourself by ducking into Fiona’s Sweetshoppe on Sutter Street.
The gumball-size shop is a candyholic’s dream. Owner Fiona Frie is a medical doctor who moved from the United Kingdom to San Francisco, and decided to take a break from medicine to open this darling candy store that’s stocked with candy from England, Scotland, and around the world. I don’t know about you, but that definitely sounds like a better drug of choice.
More than 200 jars are stacked to the rafters in this teeny-tiny space. They’re filled with such irresistible goodies as chewy wine gummis, Brazil nut toffee, double salted licorice, Cola cubes, and rum cordials. Enjoy hard-to-find candy bars, too, including UK Cadbury ones.
A smaller selection of candies also is available online. But it’s much more fun to visit the charming shop, where they are happy to let you try a sample before buying, too.
Thanks for the post. Went to the shop this weekend and loved it!
It’s cute, isn’t it? I always tell myself I’m going to buy only a couple things. And then before I know it, I’ve spent $20! 😉
I went there when I was in San Francisco last. It is such a cool lolly shop. I could have spent hours in there!
