Level up your s’mores game — big-time — with the new Dandelion Chocolate Single-Origin S’mores Kit.

The San Francisco bean-to-bar chocolate company has come up with its own gourmet version of the campfire favorite that’s available for summer.

I had a chance to try a sample of the $68 kit that comes with everything you need to make nine s’mores. That includes 70 percent large, square-shaped, single-origin chocolate chips from cacao beans grown in three different parts of the world: Indonesia, Belize, and Uganda.

Also enclosed are Dandelion Chocolate Chef Lisa Vega’s house-made graham crackers and marshmallows, along with napkins, matchbooks, instructions for making the s’mores (using a campfire, barbecue, broiler or gas stovetop), and two telescoping metal skewers.

Alas, my kit arrived missing the skewers and with a few of the cookies broken. But I didn’t let that deter me. Instead, after grilling fish for dinner on our Big Green Egg, my husband had enough hot coals remaining for us to use our own skewers to toast the big rectangular marshmallows until they were singed and molten.

Slide the melty marshmallow off the skewer onto a graham cracker on which you’ve placed two chocolate chips. Top with a second graham cracker, press down gently, and get ready to devour.

These are ample-sized marshmallows, the exact same dimensions of the graham crackers, so you’re assured of getting ooey-gooey goodness in every bite.

While there’s nothing wrong with using tried-and-true, mass-produced, supermarket staples for your s’mores, with these you can really taste the quality difference. The graham crackers are buttery and crunchy almost like thin shortbread cookies, and have a delicious caramel note from brown sugar. The marshmallows taste of vanilla, not just sugar. And the chocolate is deeply flavorful with the Indonesian chocolate boasting an almond essence, the Belizean bright with the fruity note of strawberries, and the Ugandan having a especially creamy quality with tropical flourishes.

The s’mores kit is available at Dandelion locations or can be ordered online.
